Each three-day bootcamp will provide:

  • Industry Tours: Visits to FDOT contractor facilities.
  • Essential Training: Focused on OSHA safety standards, heavy equipment operation, and flagger certification.
  • Hiring Event: A dedicated hiring event for veterans with guaranteed interviews and potential same-day job offers.

These bootcamps have a proven track record of success, with 90% of last year’s participants securing employment directly through the program.

“Florida’s road and bridge construction industry offers fields for every level of experience, background, and area of interest. We are excited for this opportunity to connect our veterans with so many different career paths to explore, all to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system,” said FDOT District 7 Secretary David Gwynn.

This initiative aligns with Governor DeSantis’ Freedom First Budget, which includes significant investments in Florida’s transportation infrastructure. FDOT is projected to create thousands of jobs in design, construction, and maintenance over the next decade.

“We take pride in the dedicated service we provide to veterans as they search for a career in the civilian workforce. These roadway construction training bootcamps connect veterans with jobs in a booming industry with opportunities for growth and advancement,” said Jason Druding, Vice President of business services for CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas.
