HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Thirty-four new firefighters officially joined Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) following a graduation ceremony at Riverhills Church of God on Friday. The diverse group, which includes several bilingual firefighters, received their helmet shields and were pinned by loved ones during the event.
By Tuesday morning, all recruits will be stationed at one of Hillsborough’s 47 fire stations, where they will begin to learn about the communities they will serve.
The firefighters, all graduates of the Fire Academy and certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), have undergone a four-week orientation to prepare them for their roles within HCFR.

HCFR, with over 1,200 firefighters, serves the 1.1 million residents of unincorporated Hillsborough County.
The addition of these new recruits strengthens the department’s ability to provide essential emergency services to the community.
