HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Residents are urged to stay cool and safe as a heat advisory is in effect for the entire county until 6 pm today, July 4th. The National Weather Service warns of dangerously hot and humid conditions, with the heat index reaching up to 111 degrees.

Stay Cool and Hydrated

The heat index is a reminder of how hot it actually feels outside. To avoid heat-related illness, residents are encouraged to:

  • Stay indoors in air conditioning if possible.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
  • Check on vulnerable neighbors and loved ones, especially those without air conditioning.
