HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County will not extend the State of Local Emergency orders for Hurricanes Helene and Milton as storm recovery efforts transition to normal County operations.

The order for Hurricane Helene will expire on February 3rd, and the order for Hurricane Milton will expire on February 2nd. The original orders were put in place on September 23rd for Hurricane Helene and October 6th for Hurricane Milton as the storms approached Florida.

As of today, January 31st, Hillsborough County has completed 99% of storm debris removal, having collected over 4.8 million cubic yards of debris since Hurricane Milton’s landfall. The County’s Emergency Operations Center has also returned to Level 3 Monitoring, indicating a return to normal daily operations.

Going forward, any vendors needed for continued storm recovery efforts will be procured through the County’s standard procurement processes.
