HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) will be conducting active threat training exercises at two major shopping centers in Hillsborough County on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

The training exercises are scheduled to take place at Brandon Exchange and Citrus Park Mall. The purpose of these exercises is to ensure that HCSO deputies and other first responders are well-prepared to handle potential threats to public safety.

Residents and businesses in the vicinity of these shopping centers should anticipate seeing an increased law enforcement presence during the training. This will include marked patrol vehicles, tactical units, and emergency responders. To minimize disruptions to the public, the training exercises will begin at 9 p.m.

“This training is a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to prepare for and respond to critical incidents,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents and visitors, and this realistic exercise allows our deputies to sharpen their skills in a controlled environment.”
