HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19 individuals during a proactive operation on Halloween aimed at enhancing community safety.

The operation, conducted by the HCSO Street Crimes Unit, focused on addressing various crimes and ensuring public safety throughout the county. In addition to the arrests, deputies also recovered a stolen firearm.

One notable incident involved a suspect attempting to flee from a traffic stop. Jhamare Jones, 20, was observed committing a traffic infraction in a black Tesla. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, Jones fled the scene.

With assistance from the HCSO Aviation Section, deputies tracked Jones and apprehended him after he abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. A search of the Tesla revealed multiple blank checks, and deputies discovered that Jones had outstanding warrants in Orange County for grand theft of a motor vehicle and scheme to defraud.

“This operation demonstrates our commitment to proactive enforcement to ensure our community is safe for families,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The message is clear: this behavior will not be tolerated in Hillsborough County.”

Jones is now facing a slew of charges, including:

  • Aggravated fleeing to elude
