HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Looks like Devin Wells, a gentleman with a colorful past (13 felony convictions to be exact), decided to add another chapter to his story on September 3rd, 2024.

Unfortunately for him, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Organized Retail Theft Unit was not amused by his attempt to furnish his vehicle (and toolbox) with Home Depot’s fine merchandise.

The team swooped in, foiling Wells’ grand plan and relieving him of $525.27 worth of unpaid-for goodies.

In addition to a new felony charge and a misdemeanor, he now has a hefty bill to settle with Home Depot.

“I am continuously impressed with our Organized Retail Theft Unit and the work they do to prevent criminals from taking advantage of the hardworking individuals in our community,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This case is an example of our continued commitment to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable.”
