HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla.- Saturday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office DUI Enforcement Squad will saturate county roadways in an effort to combat those who violate the laws of the road and quickly identify impaired drivers.
The operation coincides with the “National Enforcement Mobilization Crackdown: Never Drive Impaired” initiative, which started on August 19 and runs until September 7. HCSO will be saturating specific areas of the county to target both drug and alcohol-impaired drivers.
“It should be common sense to never get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Not only do you put your own life at risk, but also countless others with whom you share the road. Our DUI Enforcement Squad will be monitoring the roadways to ensure everyone traveling arrives safely to their final destination.”
Most recently, a DUI saturation was conducted during the July 4th holiday weekend, when 26 people were arrested for DUI.
Deputies will again saturate county roadways during the Labor Day weekend. In the PSA below, Sheriff Chronister discusses the dangers of drinking and driving and advice for anyone who does plan to drink.
