PLANT CITY, Fla. – A Plant City man, Shawn Gosset, 25, has been arrested and charged with intentionally setting a house fire that tragically claimed the lives of four adults and three dogs on Wednesday.
Early Wednesday, a devastating house fire on South County Line Road claimed the lives of four adults and three dogs. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) promptly responded to the scene alongside Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Following a thorough investigation, HCSO detectives arrested 25-year-old Shawn Gosset, a resident of the home, for intentionally setting the fire. Gosset faces four counts of First-Degree Murder While Engaged in Arson, three counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and one count of Arson of a Dwelling.
“This is an utterly senseless and horrific crime where four innocent lives were tragically taken due to the evil actions of this man,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I want to commend our detectives and our partners at Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for their swift actions which resulted in the arrest of this individual and their relentless efforts to ensure justice is served.”
The Medical Examiner’s Office and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue are working to positively identify the victims, with the information to be released pending confirmation.
