This project is tied to the upcoming relocation of the HCSO Operations Center. On December 18, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners approved a property exchange between Ybor City Holdings, LLC, and Hillsborough County.
This exchange involves five County parcels totaling around 8.33 acres in Ybor City, the site of the current HCSO Operations Center, for an existing 140,000 square-foot building on 25.07 acres located at 9927 Delaney Lake Drive. The HCSO operations team will begin planning for their move once the exchange is finalized in 2025. The construction of the new communications center and tower is a necessary part of this relocation.

The proposed HCSO Public Safety Communications Center and Communications Tower will include a facility up to 32,000 square feet and a 160-foot antenna tower. These facilities are designed to support the HCSO communications systems, which serve all public safety agencies operating within Hillsborough County. The tower is considered critical infrastructure for the HCSO office relocation.
Construction of the communications center and tower will only commence after the completion of the proposed relocation of HCSO from Ybor City to 9927 Delaney Lake Drive.
