HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County is inviting residents to participate in the development of its updated Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), a comprehensive plan designed to reduce the impact of natural and human-caused disasters. The county is seeking public input on the draft of its 5-year LMS update and Community Vulnerability Assessment.

To facilitate public engagement, the county will host an online meeting on Thursday, February 20th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Residents of Hillsborough County, including Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City, are encouraged to attend the meeting.

The online meeting will provide an overview of the LMS process and allow residents to ask questions about the draft document. Participants can join the meeting via WebEx at [insert WebEx link here].

In addition to the online meeting, residents can review the entire project and provide feedback online at HCFL.gov/HCEngage.

The Community Vulnerability Assessment identifies areas, structures, and populations at risk from hazards like flooding and sea level rise. Public input is crucial in this assessment to ensure that mitigation efforts are targeted effectively.

The information gathered through public engagement will be used to develop a comprehensive plan to mitigate risks and protect the community.
