Hillsborough County School Bus Runs Red Light, Injures Driver In Tampa Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Hillsborough County school bus ran a red light on Wednesday afternoon, causing a collision that injured the driver of another vehicle.

The accident occurred at the intersection of West Hillsborough Avenue and Countryway Boulevard around 2:30 PM. A school bus, driven by a 23-year-old Clearwater man, was traveling westbound on Hillsborough Avenue when it failed to stop for a red traffic signal.

The bus collided with the left side of a southbound Acura sedan driven by a 50-year-old Tampa woman.

The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The bus driver was uninjured. No children were on board the bus at the time of the crash.

The intersection was partially closed for nearly three hours while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
