HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County is making it easier for residents to get rid of storm debris following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. To speed up the cleanup process, the County has hired extra debris contractors and is offering more ways for residents to dispose of their yard waste and construction debris.

Curbside Collection:

  • Over 150 specialized debris trucks are working seven days a week to collect storm debris from curbsides.
  • These trucks have trailers that double their capacity, allowing them to collect over 60,000 cubic yards of debris daily – that’s the equivalent of 4,600 dump trucks!
  • Starting October 16, crews will focus on collecting loose yard waste and large piles of tree debris. Residents should bag or containerize leaves and small twigs for their regular weekly yard waste collection.

24/7 Debris Disposal Sites:

The County has extended hours at two locations where residents can drop off storm debris 24 hours a day:

  • Hillsborough Heights Solid Waste Facility: 6209 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584 (temporary entrance on Taylor Road)
  • Hillsborough County’s Resource Recovery Facility: 350 N. Falkenburg Road, Tampa, FL 33619

These sites accept storm-related yard debris, construction and demolition debris (furniture, drywall, carpet, fencing, etc.).
