As shelters nationwide face record-high animal intake, the Pet Resource Center is no exception. The facility currently houses dogs at more than 140 percent capacity, with some animals having stayed for over 100 days. Due to kitten season, the shelter is also experiencing an overflow of cats, operating at over 400 percent capacity.

For those who may not be ready to adopt, the shelter encourages community members to consider becoming foster volunteers, helping to alleviate the overcrowding.
