TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) battled a house fire in the 5800 block of Little River Drive in Tampa earlier this evening, rescuing one dog from the flames.

Multiple 911 calls alerted HCFR to the blaze around 8:52 pm Saturday, with the homeowner reporting that the house was engulfed in flames and two dogs were trapped inside.

The first HCFR unit arrived on scene within four minutes and found the home ablaze, with flames shooting through the roof and windows. Firefighters immediately entered the burning structure to attempt a rescue of the trapped pets.

Despite a partial roof collapse forcing them to evacuate temporarily, the brave firefighters were able to rescue one of the dogs. Sadly, the second dog remains unaccounted for.
