TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue fought a detached garage fire on Dawson Lane in Tampa Friday afternoon.
“Our Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) took calls just after 3:00 P.M. from individuals reporting a detached garage was on fire and was threatening the house next to it,” said HCFR.
Responding crews saw a column of black smoke from a distance and called a working fire, and the first arriving crews were met with a fully involved detached garage with heat damage starting on the adjacent house.

Crews deployed hose lines to battle the blaze and contain it in the garage, preventing further damage to the house. Embers were carried by the heavy winds into the wooded surroundings, sparking spot fires throughout the property.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 25 minutes. There were no occupants inside the garage and no injuries to first responders or civilians. The cause is currently under investigation.
