HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – County Administrator Bonnie Wise has extended the local state of emergency until October 20th in response to Hurricane Milton. This extends the original order issued on October 6th as the storm approached Florida.
This extension allows County officials to continue taking necessary actions to protect the community and enables access to federal funds for recovery efforts.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has also declared a state of emergency for the entire state.
The local emergency declaration, which can be in effect for a maximum of seven days without extension, grants the County Administrator and emergency management teams the authority to swiftly implement measures to safeguard public health and safety.
