HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Water Resources is reminding residents that the one-day-a-week lawn watering restrictions in unincorporated areas will remain in effect through December 31, 2024.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board voted on August 27 to extend the restriction to aid in refilling the regional reservoir.

Despite above-average rainfall in August, there remains a significant 12-month rainfall deficit, and Tampa Bay Water’s C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir is still 7.5 billion gallons below its full capacity.

The watering restrictions apply to all lawn and landscape irrigation in Hillsborough County, regardless of water source, but do not affect residents using reclaimed water, who may water any day except between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Residents are urged to follow the designated watering days based on their address to avoid fines. Watering is permitted only between midnight and 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. and midnight on the assigned day. For more information and to determine your specific watering day, visit HCFL.gov/WaterRestrictions.
