HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Even as Hurricane Milton moves on, its impact continues to be felt across Hillsborough County. Major flooding is occurring and expected to worsen in several areas, prompting urgent warnings from the National Weather Service.
Flood Warnings Issued:
Flood warnings are in effect for the following locations until further notice:
- Hillsborough River near Zephyrhills at Hillsborough River State Park
- Hillsborough River at Morris Bridge
- Alafia River from U.S. 301 to Lithia-Pinecrest Road
- Little Manatee River at Wimauma at U.S. 301

Alafia River Area of Particular Concern:
The Alafia River is predicted to continue rising, posing a significant flood risk to nearby residents. Streets expected to be impacted include Carr Road, Bell Shoals Road, Estelle Avenue, and numerous others (see full list in original article). Residents in these areas are urged to seek higher ground immediately.
Flood Safety Reminders:
- Heed all flood warnings. A flood warning means flooding is imminent or already occurring.
- Never attempt to drive through floodwaters. Even shallow water can be dangerous.
- Be aware that flooding can occur in any low-lying area, not just near rivers and coastlines.
- If you live in a flood-prone area, be prepared. Know how to shut off utilities, have emergency numbers readily available, and secure important documents.
