Hillsborough County residents will remain under a state of local emergency as the area continues to recover from the impact of Hurricane Milton. County Administrator Bonnie Wise has extended the emergency order through November 3rd.
The initial state of emergency was declared on October 6th in anticipation of the storm. This extension allows county officials to continue taking necessary actions to protect public health and safety, and it facilitates access to federal resources for recovery efforts.

The extended emergency declaration grants the County Administrator and emergency management officials the authority to implement measures such as:

- Coordinating debris removal: Efficiently clearing debris from roads and public areas is crucial for safety and accessibility.
- Securing resources: The declaration helps the county access essential supplies and equipment for response and recovery.
Governor Ron DeSantis also declared a state of emergency for Florida in response to Hurricane Milton, further bolstering support for affected communities.
