HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla – A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy has been charged with driving under the influence.

On December 9, 2022, at 12:32 a.m., HCSO responded to an accident where 34-year-old Matthew Archambeau was found injured by Bloomingdale Square near Maze Lane.

Archambeau was captured on surveillance cameras traveling approximately 105 mph while operating his motorcycle just before colliding with a tanker.

He was transported to Tampa General Hospital for care. Toxicology performed at TGH indicated a BAC greater than 0.15. There were no other injuries sustained at the scene of the accident.

Archambeau was not initially arrested due to his injuries and charges were filed with the State Attorney’s Office.

“As law enforcement officers, we hold ourselves to a higher standard,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The actions of this deputy are not only illegal, but they also betray the community’s trust in us to uphold the law. We take this matter very seriously, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.”

Archambeau has been employed by HCSO for 12 years and is assigned to the Department of Patrol Services. He is currently on administrative leave without pay, pending the results of an internal affairs investigation.
