The shelters will provide a safe haven for the homeless and individuals living in homes without adequate heating who cannot find other accommodations. The National Weather Service has forecasted unusually cold conditions for the area, prompting local officials to act.

Shelters will accept guests between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, or until they reach capacity.
