Hillsborough Ave Reopened Near Airport As Tampa Police Say Suspicious Device Safe

TAMPA, Fla. – The suspicious device which was located in 4400 block of W. Hillsborough Ave, the Tampa Police Department’s EOD Unit has rendered the device safe.

All lanes of Hillsborough Ave. between N. Lois Ave. and Air Cargo Rd. have been reopened.

The Tampa Police Department (TPD) responded earlier Sunday to a suspicious device found in the 4400 block of W. Hillsborough Ave., near Tampa International Airport (TPA).

The surrounding area was evacuated, and the TPD Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team is examining the device in an attempt to secure it.

All lanes of Hillsborough Avenue were closed between Lois St. N. and Air Cargo Road until the TPD EOD Team can safely secure the device.
