TAMPA, Fla. – A high-speed chase, connected to a Lakeland theft, ended with a crash in Tampa on Monday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1:27 PM, FHP Troopers saw a 2020 Nissan Altima traveling westbound on Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County that had been involved in a Lakeland felony theft case.
As the vehicle continued northbound on Interstate 75, Troopers attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle.
The vehicle fled northbound on Interstate until exiting onto westbound Fowler Avenue. At the intersection of 56th Street, the Nissan collided with another sedan.

Following the crash, the occupants of the Nissan exited the vehicle and immediately entered a 2004 Dodge Durango, then began fleeing once again along westbound Fowler Avenue.
Troopers say at 50th Street, the Durango turned northbound and Troopers conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the Durango then intentionally rammed an unoccupied marked FHP patrol car.
Shortly after, Troopers detained all occupants of the Durango. All parties involved suffered minor injuries; the Trooper was uninjured.
Charges by the FHP against the Durango driver, Grechan Toliver, 32, of Tampa, are pending.
Additional charges are considered pending at this time by the FHP. Lakeland Police are investigating the initial theft.
