MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Hialeah man was cited for violating fishing regulations in the Florida Keys after being caught with undersized mutton snapper.
On Thursday afternoon, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Willie Guerra was patrolling the Long Key Bridge when he observed 47-year-old Raysu Gutierrez Triana in possession of five mutton snapper that were smaller than the legal size limit.
Triana was issued a mandatory notice to appear in court for possession of undersized mutton snapper.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) sets size limits for various fish species to protect them during their growth and reproductive stages. Harvesting undersized fish can disrupt the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem and impact future fishing opportunities.
Anglers are encouraged to review the FWC’s fishing regulations and size limits, which can be found on their website at www.myfwc.com. The website also provides information on fishing licenses, seasons, and other important regulations
