Hernando County Sheriff: Deltona Elementary School Teacher Arrested Soliciting Minor Online

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Hernando County elementary school teacher was arrested yesterday for allegedly communicating with a 14-year-old student on an online dating app and discussing sexually explicit acts.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was notified on August 5th by the Hernando County School District that a student had reported the inappropriate communications. The teacher, identified as Michael Ronald Iannaccone (47), employed at Deltona Elementary School, was aware of the student’s age, according to detectives.

Undercover detectives continued conversations with Iannaccone using the student’s account, during which he further discussed sexual acts with the minor. Some of these conversations took place while Iannaccone was at Deltona Elementary.

On August 7th, Iannaccone was apprehended at the Hernando County School District office and subsequently confessed to using the dating app to solicit the minor. He faces charges of Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor by Electronic Device or Equipment and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device.

Iannaccone is currently held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a $4,500 bond. The HCSO encourages anyone with information on this case to contact Hernando County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-990-TIPS.
