Hernando County Fire Rescue Mourns The Loss Of Firefighter Marc Matto

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – The Hernando County Fire Rescue community is grieving the sudden passing of Firefighter Marc Matto. Matto, a dedicated 18-year veteran of the department, passed away on January 23rd, 2025.

Fire Chief Paul Hasenmeier announced Matto’s passing with “profound sorrow,” recognizing his nearly two decades of service to Hernando County.

Matto began his career in 2007 and spent the majority of his time serving the Ridge Manor community from Fire Station 8.

The family has requested privacy while they cope with this unexpected loss. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and HCFR family. Funeral Services are pending.
