Hernando County Drivers Prepare For Week Of Lane Closures, Traffic Delays

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Hernando County drivers should prepare for a week of lane closures and traffic disruptions on several major roadways as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) undertakes various road improvement projects.

Here’s a summary of the upcoming lane closures:

  • US 98 / SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.): Lane closures will be in effect from east of Mondon Hill Road/Spring Lake Highway to Lockhart Road starting Monday, March 3rd, and lasting through Saturday, March 8th. Closures will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) / SR 50A (W Jefferson Street) / Cobb Road Intersection: One lane will be closed in each direction approaching and through this intersection 24 hours a day until further notice.
  • SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) from Ridge Manor Blvd. to Riverland Clay Sink Road: Expect periodic flagging and brief traffic stops throughout the week. Daytime flagging will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nighttime flagging will occur Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, exercise caution when driving through work zones, and seek alternate routes if possible.
