HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 68-year-old woman from Hernando Beach tragically lost her life in a single-vehicle accident on Shoal Line Boulevard.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Sunday at 11:00 pm, the woman was driving a Cadillac Escalade southbound on Shoal Line Boulevard when she lost control of the vehicle south of Lentini Lane.

The Escalade veered onto the west shoulder, then the driver overcorrected, crossing back across the highway and onto the east shoulder. The vehicle collided with two palm trees before overturning into a water canal.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
