WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A tragic head-on collision in Winter Haven early Saturday morning has left one man dead and another seriously injured. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fatal crash on State Road 60, east of Logistics Parkway, around 4:25 AM.

According to investigators, a 2004 Nissan Sentra, driven by 35-year-old Orli Dagoberto Argueta Sanchez of Eagle Lake, was traveling eastbound on SR 60. A 2022 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 27-year-old Sergio Nino Ramirez of Lake Wales, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The two vehicles collided head-on.

Sadly, Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Ramirez was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The eastbound lanes of SR 60 were closed for approximately four hours while deputies investigated the crash.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
