LAKELAND, Fla. – Vince Scarsella’s hard-edged, a timely play about race relations in the context of a legal thriller will be performed at 7:00 PM, Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14, 2023, and at 2 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Stage Room Theatre located at 310 East Lemon Street Lakeland, FL 33801.
Directed by Hal Granholm, “Hate Crime” stars local actors, Delarion Augustus, Dennis Williams, Vette Berrian, Alyssa Yates, Marcus Thomson, Jr., and Spooter Bell.
“Hate Crime tells the story of a rising black attorney who agrees to represent a white supremacist charged with stabbing to death a black activist preacher during a protest march. In addition to dealing with his unrepentant client, the black attorney confronts what it means to be black in white America,” said Scarsella.

Hate Crime was previously staged in Buffalo, New York, in 2015 and by the Cause Theatre of the College of Southern Maryland in March 2019.
