During a town hall event Monday in Michigan, moderator Maria Shriver revealed that the questions posed to Vice President Kamala Harris had been “predetermined.”

The admission occurred after an audience member asked whether they would be able to ask questions directly. In response, Shriver candidly stated that the audience was not allowed to ask since questions were predetermined before the event.

“For the Safer Communities act, which is the first meaningful piece of gun safety legislation in 30 years. And so it’s a good step, and it really does tell us that. We have a will within the United States Congress to work in a bipartisan land,” Harris said. “I’ll speak for myself. We had fire drills. Right. Our children are now learning how to keep themselves safe, if there’s an active shooter at their school. I did a tour last year of colleges with college aged kids. So I also did some trade schools. And I would ask the room, the auditorium would be packed, college age kids, and I’d ask them. Raise your hand if at any point between kindergarten and 12th grade you had to endure. Almost every hand went up.”

Harris teamed up with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney in an effort to win over moderate  Republicans in key swing states. The duo is set to appear in Chester County, Pennsylvania, Oakland County, Michigan and Waukesha County, Wisconsin, for moderated discussions, as reported by ABC News.

Cheney pointed out the importance of voting according to one’s conscience as she predicted that a silent majority of Republicans would do so on Nov. 5, PBS News reported.

The Vice President previously struggled to answer questions directly, at a night forum hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Harris gave an indirect response when asked about her strategy to tackle illegal immigration. With illegal immigration taking center stage in the 2024 campaign following crimes committed by illegal immigrants and the arrival of over 20,000 Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, Harris referenced her experiences as California’s attorney general and a prosecutor before addressing the collapse of a bipartisan border bill.

During an appearance on 6ABC Philadelphia’s Action News, Harris also deflected a question on affordability, launching into a lengthy reflection on her middle-class upbringing and neighborhood lawns. When anchor Brian Taff pressed for her plans to ease costs for Americans, Harris shifted to personal anecdotes about her childhood, highlighting her mother’s work ethic and the significance of well-maintained lawns in her community, while steering clear of concrete policy proposals.

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
