Harris Camp Under Fire On Immigration Stance As Democratic Platform Pushes Sweeping Amnesty Plan

Since Kamala Harris claimed the Democratic presidential nomination, unseating President Joe Biden, her campaign has worked to distance her from the unpopular policies of the current administration, where she serves as vice president and “Border Czar.”

Despite her involvement in managing the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies—which led to over 10 million illegal border encounters and more than 2 million “gotaways”—the Harris campaign has been airing ads promising a tougher stance on border security.

However, the Democratic Party’s recently unveiled policy platform paints a different picture. The platform embraces the U.S. Citizenship Act, which proposes what is being described as the most expansive and radical amnesty for illegal immigrants ever introduced.

The act would offer amnesty to over 15 million illegal immigrants, including those admitted during the Biden-Harris era, and even provide pathways for some previously deported individuals to return and claim amnesty. Critics argue that this policy undermines the legal immigration process, offering benefits to those who entered the country illegally, while doing little to solve the ongoing border crisis.

The Harris-endorsed bill also restricts the ability of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to deport future illegal immigrants, potentially exacerbating the border issue rather than addressing it. Such policies, combined with the current administration’s “catch and release” approach, are viewed by some as signals to cartels and traffickers that border security will remain lax under a Harris presidency.

Adding to the controversy, a recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General report revealed that nearly 30,000 unaccompanied alien children failed to attend their court hearings, and hundreds of thousands of migrant children have been lost in the system. Many of these children are feared to have fallen into human trafficking or forced labor.

While Harris’ campaign continues to promote border security, her record and party platform suggest an approach that critics say will incentivize more illegal immigration and benefit cartels and traffickers. Serious enforcement measures, they argue, are needed to reverse this trend and protect U.S. borders.

Kamala Harris’ immigration strategy, in the eyes of many, misses the mark on the America First approach to border security.
