Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chair of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, released an overview last week outlining the campaign’s strategy to target key battleground states.
Florida was not on the list.
“Winning the presidential election still requires securing 270 electoral votes, and that means our paths to victory run through these states,” Dillon stated in the overview. “Vice President Harris enters a tight race, but it is clear she can unify a coalition of voters to keep a wide set of states in play.”
The campaign’s focus will be on the “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, along with the Sun Belt states of North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
Dillon emphasized Harris’ appeal to young voters, Black voters, and Latino voters as crucial to the campaign’s strategy.
“We intend to play offense in each of these states and have the resources and campaign infrastructure to do so,” Dillon added.

This announcement comes just three days after President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race and endorsed Harris, who swiftly secured the party’s nomination.
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, won Florida in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Additionally, Florida Republicans have gained a significant lead in voter registration in recent years.
