Gunshot Victim in Tarpon Springs, Detectives Investigating

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – At, approximately, 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday, Tarpon Springs Police officers responded to Dorsett Park, located at 500 E. Harrison St. in reference to a shooting incident. An officer, who is assigned to the T.S.P.D. Youth Center, located at 555 E.

Harrison St, radioed that he heard several gunshots coming from the area of the park and witnessed multiple vehicles fleeing from the location. A gunshot victim was transported to Florida Hospital/North Pinellas via private conveyance. The victim is expected to survive their injuries.

Preliminary investigation has determined that a group of individuals were playing basketball on the court at the park and the victim was a spectator. A vehicle approached the park and the occupant(s) fired several rounds at the persons in the vicinity of the basketball court. The victim was then struck by the gunfire. The suspect(s) fled the scene in the vehicle. Detectives are presently conducting an investigation.

The victim’s identity is not being released.
