Gulfport Shooting Leaves 2 Injured, Including St. Petersburg Teen; Possible 3rd Victim

GULFPORT, Fla. – A shooting in Gulfport early this morning has left two people injured and police searching for at least one more possible victim.

At approximately 3:22 AM on August 10th, 2024, Gulfport police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of 8th Ave S and 49th St S. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a 21-year-old male from Gulfport and a 19-year-old male from St. Petersburg, were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for medical treatment.

The preliminary investigation suggests multiple individuals and vehicles were involved in the incident. Authorities believe at least one other person may have been shot or injured.

49th St and 8th Ave S were temporarily closed to traffic but have since been reopened.

The Gulfport Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting or the potential third victim to come forward.
