“Guilt By Association” Roger Stone Responds To Alleged DOJ Investigation In Capitol Riot

On Sunday, LA Times Legal Affairs Columnist, Harry Litman, appeared on MSNBC and claimed online that the Department of Justice is currently investigating Roger Stone for potential wrongdoing related to the Jan 6th U.S. Capitol riot.

Litman tweeted on Sunday, “Just wouldn’t be a real scandal and outrage without the presence of, you guessed it, Roger Stone, whom DOJ now investigating for his role in 1/6 insurrection. Looking forward to discussing with @ZerlinaMaxwell, in for @AliciaMenendez, and @MacFarlaneNews on @MSNBC at 7:15 PM ET.”

“At a minimum, DOJ wants to leave no Stone (so to speak) unturned re 1/6. But also–they have charged a conspiracy among at least 9. anyone who agreed to unlawful end and did an overt act is culpable. That might mean Stone, Jones, more. Discussing with @ZerlinaMaxwell at 7:15 ET,” Litman added on Twitter.

On Monday, Stone responded to the allegations of wrongdoing on Jan 6th saying the claims are “categorically false.”

“There was an electoral college proceeding that day,” said Stone. “I am asked by a man on video, ‘what’s going to happen and I respond “we shall see”. This proves absolutely nothing. The campaign of guilt by association and outright smear continues.”

The video that Stone refers to has been in public circulation for the past four months and can be seen below. You can hear a man speaking to Stone and ask, “So, hopefully, we have this today, right?” Stone replies, “We shall see.”

Many assume the man was asking Stone about a turn in the electoral college votes after claims of election fraud leading up to Jan 6th, and election confirmation by Former Vice President Mike Pence.

“Any statement, claim, insinuation, or report, or even implying that I had any involvement in or knowledge about the commission of any unlawful acts by any person or group, in or around the U.S. Capitol or anywhere in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, is categorically false,” Stone replied to The Free Press Monday.
