A 34-year-old Guatemalan man, Genaro Romero-Romos, received a seven-month prison sentence in a Boston federal court for illegally re-entering the United States after being deported multiple times.

Romero-Romos, who pleaded guilty to the charge in April 2024, has a history of immigration offenses and has been deported from the U.S. three times.

His most recent arrest for driving under the influence in November 2023 brought him to the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, leading to his current sentence.

Following his prison term, Romero-Romos will undergo a year of supervised release and then face deportation proceedings.

Assistant United States Attorney Brian Sullivan prosecuted the case, which was announced by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston.
