Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the reappointment of Joseph Jacquot and Dr. Charles Kesler to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees.
Both appointees bring extensive expertise in law, government, and academia to their continued roles on the board, pending confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Joseph Jacquot
Joseph Jacquot is a Shareholder at Gunster Law Firm and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Florida State University. A veteran of the United States Navy, Jacquot has an extensive background in public service, including his tenure as General Counsel for the Executive Office of the Governor and Chief Deputy Attorney General of the State of Florida.

Jacquot holds a bachelor’s degree in political and social thought from the University of Virginia and a juris doctor from the University of Florida. His legal expertise and history of government service continue to provide valuable insights to the New College of Florida.
Dr. Charles Kesler
Dr. Charles Kesler is the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont-McKenna College and serves as the Editor of The Claremont Review of Books. A prolific author, Dr. Kesler’s works include his latest book, The Crisis of the Two Constitutions, which examines the ongoing challenges to America’s constitutional framework.
Dr. Kesler earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in government from Harvard University. His academic achievements and leadership in political thought further enhance the board’s intellectual foundation.
These reappointments reflect Governor DeSantis’s commitment to maintaining strong, knowledgeable leadership on the New College of Florida Board of Trustees. Both Jacquot and Kesler are poised to continue contributing to the institution’s governance, supporting its mission to provide students with an exceptional liberal arts education.
The appointments await confirmation by the Florida Senate during its upcoming session.
