Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Three To Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of three new members to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) today, naming Alexis Yarbrough as Chair alongside John Gilbert and Scott Workman.

The appointments are part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective oversight and management of one of Florida’s most critical economic and tourism hubs.

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District plays a vital role in managing the infrastructure, services, and regulatory framework surrounding the state’s world-renowned tourism and entertainment attractions, including Walt Disney World Resort.

The newly appointed members bring a wealth of experience in law, real estate, and transportation, positioning them to contribute significantly to the district’s mission.

Alexis Yarbrough – Chair
Yarbrough currently serves as Chair of the Broward College District Board of Trustees and has previously held leadership roles on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.

A graduate of the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, Yarbrough brings a strong legal and governance background to the CFTOD. Her experience in overseeing large-scale educational and judicial systems will be instrumental in guiding the district’s strategic direction.

John Gilbert
Gilbert is the Executive Managing Director at Stream Realty Partners and a respected figure in Florida’s commercial real estate industry.

Recognized as the Orlando Office Broker of the Year by the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks in 2007 and 2012, Gilbert has a proven track record in real estate development and economic growth. He holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate from Florida State University, and his expertise will be invaluable in managing the district’s infrastructure and land-use policies.

Scott Workman
Workman is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry. As the Owner of Workman Transportation and President of Workman Travel, he has deep roots in Orlando’s business community.

Workman’s understanding of logistics and transportation will be critical in addressing the district’s mobility and accessibility challenges, particularly as it continues to attract millions of visitors annually.

The appointments of Yarbrough, Gilbert, and Workman are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. If confirmed, they will join the existing board members in overseeing the district’s operations, ensuring that it remains a cornerstone of Florida’s tourism economy.
