Gov. Ron DeSantis Reappoints Two Members To University Of Florida Board Of Trustees

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the reappointment of Richard Cole and Rahul Patel to the University of Florida Board of Trustees. The reappointments, effective January 7, 2025, continue the leadership of these distinguished alumni in guiding the state’s flagship university.

Richard Cole

Richard Cole serves as Managing Partner of Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., a prominent Florida law firm. He is deeply involved in his community, currently holding the position of Vice Chair of the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee and having previously served as President of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.

Cole is a double Gator, earning both his bachelor’s degree in business administration and juris doctor from the University of Florida.

Rahul Patel

Rahul Patel is a Partner and Lawyer at King and Spalding, an internationally recognized law firm. He also contributes to the corporate and educational sectors, serving on the Board of Directors for Crawford & Company and previously as a trustee for The Westminster Schools. Like Cole, Patel is a proud University of Florida alumnus, holding both a bachelor’s degree in economics and a juris doctor from the university.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. Both trustees bring extensive legal expertise, community engagement, and a shared commitment to the continued excellence of the University of Florida.
