A former White House physician says it is a no-brainer that President Joe Biden ought to submit to a brain test.
Rep. Ronny Jackson, the former doctor for President Donald Trump and now a GOP congressman from Texas, sent Biden a letter on Tuesday “to express concern with your current cognitive state.”
“We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all Presidents should follow the example set by former President Trump to document and demonstrate sound mental abilities,” Jackson wrote.
While Jackson acknowledges Biden passed a physical in November with flying colors, at least for a 79-year-old, he added, “we are worried about your cognitive and mental abilities.”
Jackson noted that Biden never responded to a similar plea in June.
Yet, he added, “Since then, the American people have continuously lost faith in your ability to effectively and competently handle your duties as President of the United States.”
Jackson cited polling data that indicated 48 percent of respondents disagree with the statement that Biden is “mentally fit,” a 19-point swing against Biden since October 2020. And half of the respondents disagree with the point that Biden is “in good health,” a 29-point shift since October 2020.
Noting the signs of lost mental capacity by the Alzheimer’s Association, Jackson pointed out that Biden’s explosive temper and “mental decline and forgetfulness” are becoming more evident in his public appearances.
The congressman then highlighted that Trump responded to similar demands from liberals in 2018 – and “excelled” at the test.
“The American people should have absolute confidence in their President. They deserve to know that he or she can perform the duties of Head of State and Commander-in-Chief. They deserve full transparency on the mental capabilities of their highest elected leader. To achieve this, we urge you to submit to a cognitive test immediately. We implore you to then publish the test results, so the American people know the full mental and intellectual health of their President, and to follow the example set before you,” Jackson wrote.
“We encourage you to follow the example set by President Trump, by undergoing a cognitive test as soon as possible and immediately making the results available for the American people.”
Overall, 37 GOP lawmakers co-signed Jackson’s letter. Those from Florida included Reps. Greg Steube, Byron Donalds, and Kat Cammack. Additionally, the letter was endorsed by prominent conservative favorites such as Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, and Jim Banks of Indiana.
