PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – The first candidate has emerged to try to succeed term-limited state Rep. David Silvers, D-Lake Clarke Shores, while Rep. Katherine Waldron, D-Wellington, has drawn two Republican challengers.
West Palm Beach Republican Daniel Zapata opened a campaign account Wednesday to run in 2024 in Palm Beach County’s House District 89, according to the state Division of Elections website.
Silvers, who was first elected in 2016, cannot run again in the district.

Meanwhile this week, Lake Worth Republican Brandon Cabrera opened an account to try to unseat Waldron in Palm Beach’s County House District 93.
Another Republican, Chris Mitchell, opened an account last week to run for the seat.
