GOP Analysis: Red States Crushing Blue States In Job Creation And Growth As Pandemic Wanes

While the economic malaise created by the Biden administrationinflation, supply-chain shortages, higher gas prices, rising interest rates, a lag in filling job openings – has national repercussions, some states are doing much better than others.

And most of those that are faring well have a common denominator.

They’re red.

The Republican National Committee on Monday released its analysis of the latest Biden administration economic numbers from January and summed up the findings in one sentence: “Want a job? Elect Republicans.”

According to the RNC, 15 of the top 20 states that led the nation in recovering jobs since the pandemic started two years ago are led by GOP governors. Of those same states, 17 have Republican majorities in their legislatures.

Meanwhile, of the 20 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 17 are by Republican governors, GOP legislatures, or a combination of the two.

For example, of those 20 states that have boasted the biggest job gains since the onset of the pandemic, only three have Democratic governors and Democratic legislatures, and they are not necessarily havens of the ultrawoke left: Colorado, Nevada, and Maine.

Two others – North Carolina and Kentucky – have Democratic governors but Republican legislatures.

North Carolina stands out for that reason in another way.

Of the 10 states that have recovered at least 100 percent of jobs lost during the pandemic – meaning they added more jobs than they had two years ago – North Carolina is the only one with a Democratic governor. In the other nine, the GOP controls both the capitol and the governor’s mansion.

Florida ranked eighth among that group, recovering 106.9 percent of its jobs.

Utah ranks first with 149 percent, followed closely by Idaho at 145.6 percent.

Overall, Republican-led states on average have recovered 93 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 80 percent for Democrat-run states, according to the RNC.

On a related issue – unemployment rates – the story is similar.

Of the 25 states with the lowest jobless rates – Nebraska and Utah tied for lowest at 2,2 percent – only four have Democratic governors and just one has a Democratic legislature. None are completely controlled by Democrats.

Meantime, of the 25 states with the highest unemployment rates, 14 are governed totally by Democrats. California and New Mexico are the worst, at 5.8 percent and 5.9 percent, respectively.

“While Republicans are empowering workers and businesses, [President] Joe Biden and the Democrats are targeting Americans with job-killing vaccine mandates, attacking U.S. energy production, and levying an inflation tax on working families averaging $296 per month,” the RNC said in its analysis.

“Turns out you don’t need to waste trillions of dollars on far-left boondoggles to create jobs, you just need to elect Republicans.”

RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel added in a statement, “The Biden gas hike, the tax and spend agenda in blue states, and Democrat lockdowns are leaving Americans behind.”

“The data is clear: Republican leadership works, while Biden and the Democrats leave families behind. Republican governors and legislatures are delivering for hardworking Americans and unleashing opportunity for all.”
