Gibsonton Man Dies In Polk County I-4 Crash Following Medical Emergency

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 62-year-old Gibsonton man tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on I-4 near Milepost 26 on Friday, August 9th.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Ford Edge eastbound on I-4 when he experienced a medical emergency. Losing control of the vehicle, it veered off the road, striking a tree before overturning and landing in a water-filled ditch.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 51-year-old Gibsonton woman who was a passenger in the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
