ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 10th-grade student at Gibbs High School was arrested Thursday morning after being found in possession of a stolen firearm on school grounds.
The arrest followed a tip received by school administrators and the School Resource Officer.
The 16-year-old student, whose name is not being released due to his age, was taken into custody without incident. He faces a series of serious charges, including:

- Possession of a firearm on school campus
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Minor in possession of a firearm
- Felon in possession of a firearm
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the student did not make any threats towards other students or the school. However, the presence of a weapon on campus triggered a swift response to ensure the safety of everyone at Gibbs High School.
