When the police arrived at the scene, they made the grim discovery of a deceased infant in the IHOP bathroom. Witnesses provided a description of the woman, later identified as Shaniqua D. Caldwell, 35, of Georgia, and had reportedly fled the restaurant on foot while bystanders were calling the authorities.
Caldwell was soon located at a nearby motel, where she was taken into custody. During her interaction with the police, Caldwell made several surprising and seemingly contradictory statements.
She denied being pregnant and claimed that she had not had sexual intercourse in at least six years.
According to the outlet, Caldwell also made the bizarre assertion that she was related to renowned figures such as Michael Jordan and Denzel Washington.

Despite the officers’ concern for her well-being, given the likelihood that she had just given birth, Caldwell refused any medical treatment or evaluation.
Shaniqua Caldwell was charged with a misdemeanor offense of concealing the birth of an infant. However, the investigation into the tragic event is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming pending the results of the infant’s autopsy.
The autopsy is expected to provide crucial information about the cause and timing of the baby’s death, which could potentially lead to more serious charges against Caldwell. Authorities have emphasized that they are committed to thoroughly investigating the matter and ensuring that justice is served.
