A 19-year-old has been sentenced to life in prison in Georgia without the possibility of parole for breaking into a girl’s bedroom and fatally shooting her in the head following a dispute.
The Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday, August 7, that Jacobean Brown received a life sentence, plus an additional six years, for the murder of 15-year-old Madison Gesswein. Brown was convicted in July on charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Gesswein’s mother found her daughter’s body in her bedroom on the morning of February 21, 2023.
Prosecutors stated that on the night of February 20, 2023, Gesswein had been texting with Brown and two other co-defendants, Justus Smith and Yeshua Mathis, when an argument broke out. Brown, Smith, and Mathis allegedly brought a loaded 9mm pistol with an extended magazine, along with cleaning supplies, to Gesswein’s apartment.
Brown is accused of sneaking into Gesswein’s bedroom through a window and shooting her while she lay on her bed.
