Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) has been tapped to lead a key House Oversight subcommittee focused on combating government waste, working in conjunction with the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the incoming Trump administration. Greene shared details of her role and the administration’s ambitious goals in a Sunday Fox News interview.

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and tech mogul Elon Musk will spearhead DOGE, an initiative designed to eliminate at least $2 trillion in what they identify as wasteful government spending.

The subcommittee, led by Greene, will work alongside DOGE to conduct in-depth audits and recommend cuts to programs and contracts that fail to serve taxpayers.

“This massive problem has left America $36 trillion in debt,” Greene said. “We’re going to do a deep dive into waste across every government department, program, and contract.”

Greene pointed to what she called egregious examples of waste, including funding for “sex apps in Malaysia” and “toilets in Africa.” She also criticized the Pentagon for failing to account for billions of dollars annually.

“I want to talk to the Pentagon and ask why they fail their audits year after year,” Greene said. “The American people deserve to know where their hard-earned tax dollars are going.”

Greene also plans to summon governors of sanctuary states and mayors of sanctuary cities to justify their use of federal funding. “If they’re going to harbor illegal, criminal aliens, they need to explain why they deserve federal dollars,” she stated.

The DOGE initiative will also prioritize audits of government contracts, particularly with defense and pharmaceutical companies. Greene acknowledged that these publicly traded companies rely heavily on government agreements, making them vulnerable to potential cuts.

“This is where my subcommittee will work hand-in-hand with DOGE, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Elon Musk,” Greene said. “What these men are doing for our country is a great service, and we’re grateful for President Trump setting up the DOGE Commission in his incoming Administration.”

Greene made it clear that the subcommittee’s mission is to prioritize transparency and accountability over political correctness. “We don’t care about people’s feelings,” she said. “We’re searching for the facts and verifying whether these expenditures are worth the American people’s tax dollars.”

The collaboration between Congress and DOGE signals a major push for efficiency and accountability in federal spending under the Trump administration. Greene’s subcommittee and DOGE will aim to identify and eliminate waste across all sectors of government, ensuring that taxpayer money is used effectively.

“America needs a government that works for the people,” Greene said. “This initiative is a critical step toward achieving that goal.”
