Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia on Tuesday blasted Democrats and their liberal media allies for spreading the lie that the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol was an “insurrection.”
The Georgia Republican argued that the left-wing Biden administration has not charged anyone with the actual federal crime of participating in an insurrection — despite indicting former President Donald Trump for his behavior on J6 and arresting more than 1,200 of his supporters, and giving them more than 800 years in prison collectively, for breaching the Capitol and brawling with cops
“In every single court in our land, no one’s been charged and convicted with insurrection, yet Democrats and dishonest people in the media, every single day, accuse President Trump of waging an insurrection,” Greene said in scolding reporters.

“You’re doing nothing but lying and selling the lies of the Democrats, all for campaigns and elections. Shame on every single person that has done that. Shame on you. You need to tell the truth.”
Greene was one of several GOP lawmakers who spoke at a press conference convened by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.
The Fort Walton Beach Republican addressed a resolution he’s circulating to exonerate Trump of being accused of fomenting an insurrection on J6. Gaetz was joined by Greene and two dozen other GOP lawmakers at the event. In all, 65 Republicans have signed on to his measure.
Greene reminded the media that when Trump was inaugurated in January 2017, Antifa and other leftist rioters “nearly burned down Washington.”
“Did you call it an insurrection? No,” she said.

The same was true of the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020 after the death of convicted felon George Floyd in police custody.
The media refused to call it an insurrection, she added, even as BLM rioted, attacked cops and burned buildings almost every day for months in “mostly peaceful” uprisings, instead of a single three-hour melee, as occurred on J6.
Greene maintained that the American people are not buying the repeated claims about Trump, his followers, and Republicans in Congress.
“You’re hurting your own careers and you’re hurting your industry for lying to them,” said Greene.
“I cannot believe we even have to do this because Democrats and liars in the media accuse President Trump of being an insurrectionist, when in fact he is not.”
